Job summary

We particularly welcome applications from Black, Asian and minority ethnic candidates and those with lived experience, as they are under-represented within the Trust.

NBT and UHBW were awarded a place on the NHSE Cancer Improvement Collaborative (CIC) programme. The local project team is comprised of committed people from both trusts and has support from colleagues within the wider ICS.

The project focuses on improving the quality of reasonable adjustment provision for people on cancer pathways within the BNSSG area.

Many people with cancer are treated by both trusts which adds a level of complexity for people requiring reasonable adjustments.

This may include, but is not limited to,





people with a learning disability, autism, dementia, severe mental health condition, hearing impairment, physical disability, and includes individuals with experience at the intersection of multiple conditions.

We need a passionate & highly organised individual to join the team and drive forward this important work within UHBW, scoping the current practices around reasonable adjustments.

The role is a great opportunity for someone who wishes to be involved in an exciting project which will help reduce health inequalities and enhance the experience of people with cancer.

This provides a fantastic opportunity for you to contribute to improving the overall experience of cancer care at UHBW and work within a friendly & supportive team with an interdisciplinary approach to delivering personalised care

Main duties of the job

- Work closely with the project team and other stakeholders to scope current practices around reasonable adjustments, which will feed into the wider BNSSG Cancer Improved Collaborative projects.






- Hold responsibility for the creation and management of a resource database, relating to supportive organisations. Guiding people through the use of self-management resources
- Utilise outstanding communication skills and initiative to work across all elements of the cancer pathway
- Identify & escalate associated challenges to the project team
- Create and manage a patient tracker, identifying those people affected by cancer, that require reasonable adjustments.
- Support the promotion of the accessible information standard (AIS, 2016) within UHBW, including the new learning module
- Encourage the operationalisation of the AIS into cancer services, with focus on the education of those involved within the oncology pathway.
- Attend the AIS UHBW forum, and other community engagement events

Person Specification

Qualifications and Training

Essential

- GCSE English Language and Mathematics (Grades A-C) or equivalent
- NVQ4 or NVQ3 plus additional training to diploma level equivalent, or equivalent through short courses

Desirable

- Evidence of continued role development
- Willingness & interest to undertake relevant learning and development courses
- Coaching or teaching qualification

Aptitudes

Essential

- Calm and objective
- Confident yet approachable
- Acts in a mature manner - both personally and professionally
- Recognition of own limitations
- Demonstrates enthusiasm
- Ability to deal with complex and difficult emotional situations






- Ability to travel between sites

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

- Relevant health or social care experience at AfC Band 3 or equivalent
- Experience of multi-professional working
- Experience in the use of data management
- Evidence of good communications skills
- Understanding of person centered cancer
- Understanding of the health and social care environment
- Experience of coach / teaching patients and carers
- Understanding of reasonable adjustments

Desirable

- Experience in working with, people with a learning disability, autism, dementia, severe mental health condition, hearing impairment, physical disability, and individuals with experience at the intersection of multiple conditions
- Experience in coordinating a patient workload
- Knowledge of relevant cancer treatments,
