Job summary

The postholder will be responsible for the system administration activities, database maintenance, system testing, problem analysis and resolution, training and user support for the IMS (RIS) and the Orser Communications Solution.

The postholder will ensure that all information, irrespective of media, is processed and used in accordance with policies and provide administrative and first line management and support to the PACS and IMS team and to assist with the transfer of images using the National PACS Teams.

To ensure all clinical staff receive appropriate training in the use of PACS and IMS. To work closely with all staff to provide and maintain a working system.







To identify and develop in conjunction with the PACS and IMS Manager future software development potential of PACS / IMS and changes in clinical practices to meet the Trust's business needs.

To manage the Clinical System Support Team and helpdesk daily. To manage in association with the Pathology IT Team the radiology aspect of the ICE Order Comms solution maintaining the catalogue between Order Communications and RIS.

Main duties of the job

Promote and develop user awareness of the importance of user accuracy and adherence topolicy when using IMS and the Order Communications The postholder will be working in an environment that requires a high degree of accuracy andattention to detail, pressure with time constraints to turn around and process complexinformation and dealing with a diverse client The postholder will apply their analytical skills and judgement when responding to issues andproblems with Clinical Systems to rapidly re-plan and prioritise their work, and / or the work ofothers,





in response to the emerging issue to ensure rapid and accurate The postholder will be able to demonstrate the ability to co-ordinate, plan and deliver user leveltraining to individuals and groups, as The post holder will be responsible for maintaining stock within the PACS Team and raisingorders as The postholder will be responsible for ordering IT items via the catalogue

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

- Good standard of Secondary Education including GCSE or equivalent in English, Mathematics and a Science subject
- Evidence of continuous development
- A sound knowledge of the ITIL Processes with emphasis on Incident, Problem and Change Management.

Desirable

- Educated to degree level, equivalent, or extensive experience supporting clinical information systems in a healthcare environment
- PACS or IMS (RIS) System Administrator Training
- PRINCE2 Foundation or ITIL Foundation Knowledge






- Possess a full UK driving licence or alternative method of travelling to site when on call

Knowledge and Nature of Experience

Essential

- Experience supporting end user of multiple information systems
- Experience administering an PACS and IMS System
- Experience administering an Ordercomms System.
- Experience of participating in business change projects.
- Experience in analysing user workflows in the context of information systems.
- Knowledge of Electronic Patient Record solutions
- Proficient in use of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience supporting information systems in a health care environment.

Desirable

- Experience in analysing complex data and producing reports.
- Experience administering multiple information systems.







Analytical And Judgement Skills

Essential

- Experience of participating in systems implementation.
- Experience working in a healthcare environment.
- Knowledge of basic system messaging

Desirable

- Aptitude for investigating, analysing, and solving complex problems
- Understanding of the principles of project management
- Experience in delivery of systems training

Professional / Managerial / Specialist Knowledge

Essential

- Ability to lead and manage staff as necessary in the delivery of systems support
- Proven ability in learning new and complex computer systems.
- Competent computer user with good keyboard skills.
- Self-motivated and highly organized.
- Understand the importance of writing and following Standard Operating procedures and protocols






- Ability to act on own initiative and take and implement decisions to resolve problems
- Ability to manage own workload and assess, prioritise, and organise work under pressure to manage conflicting deadlines and to manage the workload of others as required.

Experience administering multiple information systems.
