Save the Children UK has an exciting opportunity for a supportive and politically curious individual with relationship building experience to join us as our Politics & Public Affairs Assistant where you will work with Politics & Public Affairs team.

Please note : this is a 12 month Fixed Term Contract.

About the role

As the Politics & Public Affairs Assistant, you will be instrumental in helping to deliver high impact change strategies with the Politics & Public Affairs team.

This is a great opportunity to get involved in advocacy and influencing work where you can build relationships with political contacts.

In this role, you will :

- Assist with monitoring, analysing and disseminating UK political intelligence to inform advocacy and influencing work, including the production of our weekly Political Round-Up.
- Support the establishment and maintenance of relationships with political contacts in Westminster, and help to raise Save the Children's profile and awareness of our positions on key issues among a wider political audience in order to increase our ability to change for children in the UK and globally.
- Produce content for regular written briefings to MPs, Peers, MEPs, government officials, and other decision makers on key policies and campaigns.






- Collaborating with other colleagues to summarise and communicate complex data (scientific, technical, economic) and policy ideas in ways that are suitable for political audiences.
- Occasionally representing Save the Children at external meetings and events to support our influencing and profile building, and advance our advocacy priorities.

About you

To be successful, it is important that you have :

- An understanding of and interest in the UK political system this could be through volunteer involvement in a political party, through academic studies or previous professional experience.
- A curiosity about how change happens and in particular the role of public affairs in advocacy.
- An ability to analyse,





summarise and persuasively communicate complex information in written form to a range of audiences.
- Demonstrable excellence at verbal communication, presentation and persuasion.
- Experience of organising events.
- Commitment to Save the Children's vision, mission and values.

The team often come into the London (Farringdon) office and it would be great if the successful person was also able to, but this is flexible and something that can be discussed as interview stage.
