We are a leading education recruitment agency, that is currently seeking a Head of Geography for a lovely school in Barnet.
This exciting leadership position offers an April start and provides a wonderful opportunity to be a part of a thriving school community.
As the Head of Geography, you will be responsible for leading the geography department, developing and implementing a comprehensive curriculum, and ensuring the highest standards of teaching and learning.
You will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the department and inspiring students to develop a lifelong love for geography.
We are looking for a passionate and experienced individual with strong leadership and management skills. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in delivering outstanding results and will be dedicated to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and mentor a team of Geography teachers, providing guidance and support for their professional development
- Develop and implement a comprehensive and engaging geography curriculum
- Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching and learning within the department
- Build positive relationships with staff, students, and parents to foster a supportive learning environment
- Manage department resources and budget effectively
- Stay updated with the latest developments in geography education
Requirements
- A degree in Geography or a related field
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
and preferably a postgraduate qualification in education or leadership
- Proven experience as a Geography teacher, with a track record of delivering exceptional results
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team
- Excellent knowledge of the geography curriculum and assessment requirements
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to continuous professional development
- Experience in a leadership role in a school setting would be advantageous
