Specialist Occupational Therapist - LPOP
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic team within the mental health service older people based at University Hospital Llandough.
We wish to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated suitably skilled individual with excellent communication skills, effective team working and an interest in service improvement.
This post is Team Lead Occupational Therapist in Liaison Psychiatry for Older People who works across medical setting as part of a multi professional team.
You will be working in a rewarding environment.
You will be providing supervision to some Occupational Therapy staff within the wider Mental Health Service for Older People team and be responsible for the daily management of the Occupational Therapy service delivery in your clinical area.
Effective communication skills and a positive approach to the management peoples mental and physical health is required.
If you have extensive post-graduation experience, including mental health and looking to progress your career further we would like to hear from you.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and / or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
Our service is currently undergoing a change in a service delivery model and there will be extensive opportunities to engage with a service development initiative and to shape our service strategy within Occupational therapy and the wider mental health service for older people.
You will work closely with other professions in the team and deliver holistic assessment / interventions to optimise function and reduce risk for older people experiencing mental health need.
Interventions are occupationally focused using a positive approach and management techniques, including cognitive rehabilitation.
Knowledge of the Mental Health Measure, Allen Cognitive Disability Model are desirable for this position.
Supervision of Occupational Therapists plus support to other members of the multi professional team is essential for this role.
