We aim to recruit a dynamic nurse with relevant Paediatric Emergency Department experience, excellent verbal and written communication skills with empathy and compassion at the heart of the care that they provide.
You will be expected to deliver high quality, clinical care, lead a team of nurses and HCSWs,
promoting and maintaining high standards of nursing care within the current service.
You will be actively involved in shaping the future of the Paediatric Emergency Department and will be supported in achieving your career goals in relation to developing clinical, management and leadership skills.
You will line manage a team made up of junior Sisters / Charge Nurses, Band 5 nurses and Band 3 emergency department assistants.
You will nurture their development and lead with an example of clinical excellence. The Senior Sister / Charge Nurse is expected to co-ordinate a group of nurse champions’ to lead in an area of care that interests you and in collaboration with an ED Consultant manage quality improvement projects.
You will have relevant Emergency Department experience and emergency care qualification including in trauma care. You will also be committed to patient care and staff development with a desire to promote change and development throughout this energised team.
Main duties of the job
To provide enthusiastic,
passionate and innovative Nursing team leadership. Provide a range of outstanding clinical practice and clear and effective operational / resource management.
To be a Deputy to the Matron where necessary.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Degree or equivalent and relevant experience
- Registered Children’s Nurse Mentorship Course or Equivalent
- APLS or equivalent.
- Specialist A&E; / ED course.
Desirable criteria
- Masters or Masters Level Achievements
- Leadership / Management course
Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant ED Experience at band 6 level.
- Management of pressured environments.
Desirable criteria
Experience managing junior staff.
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Clinical expertise within emergency care.
- Continual professional development of self and others
