Job summary

Stockport NHS Trust has been awarded funding from the Neo Natal Network to allow the expansion of our neo natal team. Therefore we have an exciting opportunity to recruit a Band 6 within the Neonatal Service at Stockport NHS foundation trust.

We are looking for dynamic and highly motivated individuals who can demonstrate excellent communication and leadership skills, provide support and education for junior staff and are passionate about improving patient safety and the patient experience and providing leadership and management of the team on a shift and work closely with the Senior Sisters, Lead Nurses and Matron in developing the service and enhancing quality of care delivery.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder is will provide clinical assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care given to Sick and pre-term babies and their families demonstrating family centred care;

provide expert advice to parents and carers acting as a resource to other members of staff. They will take a lead role in a specific area of the service

Job description

Job responsibilities

Communications

- Take charge of Unit on a shift by shift basis.
- Ensure effective communication across the nursing team, with other disciplines and agencies in the exchange of complex or sensitive information.
- Ensure effective liaison with all professionals involved in the care and management of neonates and their families.
- Provide clinical leadership and supervision to nursing and medical staff.
- Identify and lead on a specific service area.
- Manage and effectively directs workload.






- Promote and maintain good working relationships with all grades of staff and MDT.
- Provide empathetic communication with stressed or bereaved families.

If successful, this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £ This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary.

In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £13.
