Job summary

This Fellowship is aimed at senior trainees (ST5+) trainees wishing to seek experience in critical care and toxicology / national poisons information service.

The post is for 6 to 24 months and can be adapted to support the Fellow in developing their specific area of interest.

Main duties of the job

This post would also offer consolidation of clinical skills and experience in general adult ICM, exposure to renal replacement techniques, advanced cardiovascular monitoring and support, percutaneous tracheostomy, non-invasive ventilation and advanced invasive ventilation modes including APRV.

Clinical work would also involve research for the national poisons information service,





a local toxicology in-reach service and participation in the local NPIS rota.

The successful applicant is expected to participate in on-calls on the senior trainee rota and the NPIS rota.

The post is based at University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff.

Qualifications

Essential

- oMBBS or equivalent
- oTraining in Radiation Protection or agreement to attend next available course (state higher qualifications if applicable)

Desirable

- Intercalated or PHD.Academic Excellence
- oMSc or PHD
- oAcademic Excellence (Prizes, merits, distinctions etc.,)

Experience

Essential

- oClinical Experience
- oPostgraduate membership / Fellowship

skills

Essential

- Demonstrable skills in written and spoken English adequate to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues
- Up to date with current medical practices
- Ability to take appropriate clinical decisions when necessary






- Able to relate to patients, staff and medical colleagues
- Evidence to work both alone and in a team

- Current GMC certificate with a licence to practise (Satisfactory immigration status for length of contract, Satisfactory Health Clearance, Satisfactory DBS Clearance)
