Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part-time ( hours per week) Receptionist to work as part of the Critical Care Multi-Disciplinary Team which provides intensive and high-dependency care to patients across both South Tyneside and Sunderland sites.

You will be responsible for ensuring a high-quality reception service and care to relatives attending the Critical Care units.

Please note the Trust are not able to offer Skilled Worker Sponsorship for this role as it does not meet the UKVI threshold requirements.

You would be required to work across both critical care units as required, andwould be an integral part of the Critical Care team.

Shifts includeweekends and public holidays. No night duty required.

Job description

Job responsibilities

To provide a high-quality reception service and care to relatives attending the critical care unit.

To support the Critical Care team in undertaking all administrative duties required by the clinical team on either Sunderland or South Tyneside site.

Responsible for receiving, assisting and directing relatives / carers / other healthcare professionals in accessing the Unit in a courteous, efficient and effective way.

Provide general assistance to the wider Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) and project a positive and friendly image to relatives and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.

Person Specification

Physical Skills

Essential

- Good keyboard skills.
- Object manual handling.
- Ability to sit at workstations as necessary to perform the Post.
- Ability to travel and access sites based on service need.

Experience

Essential

Proven prior customer services experience.

Desirable

Proven prior experience of working in the NHS.

Qualifications

Essential

- Maths & English Language at GCSE Grade A-C / equivalent, or above.
- NVQ L2 (or equivalent) in any subject.

Skills and Knowledge

Essential

- Ability to prioritise tasks.






- Ability to communicate in an understandable way to patients and colleagues, adapting communication style to meet the needs of the recipient.
- Ability to communicate messages and instructions accurately to colleagues, both verbally and in writing.
- Basic skills of empathy and reassurance.
- Good keyboard skills.
- Ability to use email system and document clearly, using plain English.
- Basic understanding of health and safety requirements in a
- patient environment.
- General understanding of confidentiality requirements in a healthcare setting.
- Willing to undertake further training related to role.

Desirable

- Ability to use complex IT systems.
