Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the Eating Disorders team of our Child and Adolescent Mental Health Directorate.

Main duties of the job

Within this role you will :

- Work within a multi-disciplinary Eating Disorders CAMHS team and provide therapeutic packages of care to children and young people suffering from Eating Disorders and their families, within the defined areas.
- Carry out comprehensive assessments and interventions in this population supported by the team within tier 2 / 3 CAMHS.

and hold their own caseload.

- Liaise closely with other agencies and professionals and provide consultation when required.
- Provide teaching and training to others.






- Supervise junior staff where appropriate.

Job responsibilities

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES : To provide patient centred care of a complex nature in a variety of settings : work with the specialist nurse to provide on-going assessment, planning,implementation and evaluation of patient care, ensuring the maintenance ofclinical records.

Also, to be responsible for developing plans of action, inconjunction with Specialist Nurse.





work with the Specialist Nurse in the management of a case load, workingclosely with the multi-disciplinary team, patient, family and any otheragencies.

work at times within the community setting, involving close family memberswhere required, with an aim to promote positive change within the family.

attend and contribute to core groups, review meetings, child protectionmeetings and any other clinical forums requiring key-worker involvement.

Toprovide accurate reports for such meetings ensuring patient involvementwhere required. work with patients and families who are potentially hostile.







To possessexcellent communication skills in order to defuse and contain situations asthey arise participate in teaching programmes for nursing students and other membersof staff when required always respect the rules of confidentiality as per policy monitor and report areas of concern.

To work within current clinical guidelines and legislation to deliver quality,evidence-based care.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

Good understanding of Child and Adolescent Mental Health issues. Demonstrate knowledge of and adherence to local systems, processes and procedures.

Knowledge of and adherence to organisational procedures.

Desirable

Training appropriate to post Post Registration Qualification in Child & Adolescent Mental Health. Child Protection, child development, working with families.

Experience

Essential

Experience in assessment and clinical interventions. Working within a team







Desirable

Experience of working with children and / or young people with mental health problems. Experience of facilitating group work.

Community work or 1-1 work with patients.

Aptitude and Abilities

Essential

Effective interpersonal and communication skills with children, young people and adults. Ability to work effectively under pressure.

Ability to work well as part of a team and carry out specific tasks as allocated. Ability to work in a challenging and changeable environment.

Resourceful, creative, motivated, ability to reflect on practice. Enthusiastic about working with young people and their families.

Ability to discuss difficulties in an open and honest way.
