About the team and the role
Reporting to the Finance Manager, as the Senior Finance Analyst the role provides an interesting opportunity in playing a key role in establishing the controls roadmap and building key relationships with various stakeholders and process owners.
A role with great visibility and an opportunity to contribute significantly in the control’s environment.
- You will be a key member of the Reporting and Controls team, reporting into Finance Manager - Controls. You will be responsible for the advancement of the controls roadmap and implementation of additional requirements arising from the regulatory landscape.
- Key responsibilities will include liaison across the business with process owners for the documentation, review, testing and improvement cycle of key financial controls.
A strong desire to seek continual improvement is a necessity.
Assistance in ad hoc projects, strategic developments, management reporting and other finance related projects driven by the growth of the business.
You will liaise closely with the financial reporting side of the team to drive continuous improvement and implement a strong controls culture.
The position presents the opportunity and challenge of working in both a dynamic and exciting environment within the UK’s largest dedicated online grocery retailer.
What you’ll do
- Working with process owners to prepare and update process documentation, ensuring that key financial reporting controls across the business are identified and documented.
- Assess effectiveness of accounting systems / controls / records and identify control failings or weaknesses.
- Establish financial controls design improvement and training to embed improved processes and controls.
- Present updates in relation to financial controls to senior finance leadership.
- Work closely with the wider business to promote control awareness and accountability and provide input into business processes.
- Ongoing maintenance and monitoring of Financial Controls Framework and adherence to policies.
- Inputting into the vision for future development of the financial control environment alongside increasing automation
- Liaising with external and internal Auditors and addressing requests
- Oversight of GITC library, critical data sources and reports to ensure integrity of information
- Maintenance of risk registers and bi-annual analysis
- Ad hoc projects to drive improvements to accounting and reporting processes that support the growth of the business
Who you are
- Qualified ACA / ACCA
- Experience of assessing financial control either through audit engagements or from roles working in industry
- Experience of implementing and / or monitoring a financial control framework
- Proven ability to explain technical matters to non-experts
- Desire to assess and challenge effectiveness and optimise financial systems to drive change
- A can do attitude, proactive in seeking solutions and implementing change
- Comfortable communicating with senior management and key stakeholders
