Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join a very dynamic and innovative team during a one year fixed term / secondment. As a band 7 Critical Care Clinical Nurse Specialist you will have a positive and supportive impact on the patient and loved one's journey during critical care and their recovery period.
Following CG83 guidance you will work with ward areas to support patients and facilitate follow clinics post hospital discharge.
The role works closely with our wide and varied MDT members. Within the team you will take part in service improvement projects and have the opportunity work with data and delivery audit reports.
Main duties of the job
This role supports the patient's journey from admission to critical care to the recovery phase. The post holder needs to be a recognised expert in Critical Care and post Critical Care recovery.
The Responsibilities are varied and cover the CG83 pathway including making early referrals to multi-disciplinary teams and facilitating follow up clinics with clinicians.
The role is engages with psychologist, AHP's and clinicians and provides specialist advice and support to loved ones and patients along their recovery pathway.
The role includes the provision of specialist education and training for staff and students. There is plenty of opportunity to undertake research and lead clinical audits in own specialist area, presenting this at both trust, regional and national levels.

Qualifications
Essential
- Registered Nurse educated to Degree level or willingness to undertake
- Relevant Post registration qualification in Critical Care
- Evidence of continuous professional development.
Desirable
- Teaching qualification
- Advanced communication skills
Experience
Essential
- At least 6 months experience as a band 6 in adult Critical care.
- An interest in patient recovery from critical care illness
- Experience of initiating change or leading on a project. Evidence of working with the wider MDT and especially the AHP
Desirable
- Experience of formal or informal teaching
- Leading on or part of a team that has introduced an improvement that impacted the patient's pathway post CC illness.
- Part of an SIP or Audit that changed patient care or experience.
