Main duties of the job
To be successful in this role, candidates will be required to demonstrate general and operational management experience ideally within an acute hospital setting and evidence of a flexible and compassionate approach to leadership.
Working with the support of the General Manager the post holder will ensure that effective and efficient structures are in place to ensure that all standards of patient care are met and associated risk and governance matters are managed.
The post holder will support the General Manager in developing efficient and effective patient centered services, meeting key financial and operational performance targets, and putting in place effective processes for delivering national / local targets, reviewing the efficiency and effectiveness of services in terms of cost effectiveness and financial flows.
In addition, participation in the senior manager on-call rota for the trust will provide invaluable experience of trust-wide operations and cross-divisional working.

Qualifications
Essential
- Masters level qualification or equivalent experience
- Recognised post-graduate management qualification or equivalent experience.
Experience
Essential
- Minimum 5 years general and operational management experience to include the management of a large multi-disciplinary group of staff - part of which to have been in the NHS
- A proven record of success in managing significant operational / strategic change whilst also developing and maintaining the provision of a high quality service, within a clinical setting, with multidisciplinary teams.
- Significant experience planning strategy for a complex acute hospital service (s).
- Experience of team working and building and maintaining effective working relationships in a multidisciplinary environment
- Fully developing staff potential through facilitating training,
development and education initiatives
- Demonstrable ability to lead and influence
- Evidence of sound budgetary management experience
- Experience in service redesign and project management
- Experience of working with external organisations
- Experience in managing quality / clinical audit / clinical governance / risk management issues
Desirable
Evidence of having implemented strategies to reduce / meet junior doctor hours
