Job summary

The Adolescent Treatment Team (ATT) has a vacancy for a full time clinical psychologist in the team. ATT supports the mental wellbeing of complex and high risk young people based in the London Borough of Lewisham, we need a clinical psychologist / CBT therapist who can work in a team to stabilise, formulate, offer evidence based treatments and discharge these vulnerable young people.

We support young people who have mental health issues such as first episode psychosis, bipolar, emotional instability, trauma, autism, learning challenges, anxiety and depression.

The team require a candidate with some experience of working in CAMHS and knowledge of managing risk and safeguarding.





There will be some care coordination for a small number of children and the provision of evidence bases treatments.

The team is mostly based in the clinic but occasionally there will be home visits and some outreach.

The team is made up of psychiatrists, psychologists, nursing, family therapy and social workers. The team are supportive and caring, we work together to manage the needs of vulnerable children, we provide supervision and training and an opportunity to develop specific interests.

Main duties of the job

- To provide a specialist CBT, and, if qualified, Clinical Psychology service to CAMHS including specialist assessment, treatment, planning, implementation and monitoring of outcomes.
- To have a balanced caseload of care coordination and therapeutic intervention.
- To contribute to enabling other staff,





service users and carers from diverse backgrounds to flourish by working to create a psychologically safe environment.
- To provide clinical supervision and consultation as appropriate.
- To undertake service evaluation, audit and research.
- To work as an autonomous professional within BPS (if appropriate) and HCPC / BABCP guidelines and codes of conduct, and guided by the policies and procedures of the service, taking responsibility for own work including treatment and discharge decisions with support of clinical supervisor.

Child and adolescent mental health services have a history of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working and it is important to nurture these different perspectives to effectively contribute to the national policy of cross-agency collaboration.

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

- Experience of receiving clinical supervision across a range of client needs.
- Experience of psychological assessment and treatment of clients with a range of psychological needs of a complex nature
- Experience that supports working with, and addressing issues of,





diversity within local communities. This may have been gained through work, research, volunteering and / or lived experience.
- Experience of developing and carrying out research projects.

Desirable

- Experience of ADOS / ADI assessments
- Experience of complex assessments (ASD / ADHD)
- Experience of undertaking cognitive assessments.

Qualifications

Essential

- Entry-level qualification in Applied Psychology (professional Doctorate, or combination of MSc plus PG Diploma level additional training) that has been accepted by the HCPC for purposes of professional registration or degree level training followed by PG diploma in CBT
- Registered with the HCPC as Practitioner Psychologist or registration with BABCP as a CBT therapist.

- Certificate in supervision

Knowledge

Essential

- Theoretical knowledge of psychopathology and the evidence base for the relevant treatment such as depression and trauma.
- Knowledge of psychological assessment and clinical psychometrics
- Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and mental health issues, child and adult protection, and equalities.
- Knowledge of psychological research methodology and statistical analysis.
- Knowledge of factors affecting acceptability and accessibility of mental health care.

Desirable

Knowledge of recent research and evidence based practice

- To communicate skilfully and sensitively complex and sensitive information with clients,
