Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate English Teacher to join our dynamic team at an Alternative Provision School in Dunstable. This role offers the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students who may face barriers to mainstream education. You will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality English education, nurturing academic progress, and supporting the holistic development of students with diverse and complex needs.

Key Responsibilities:

- Plan and deliver engaging English lessons tailored to the individual learning needs of students.
- Support students with behavioral, emotional,





and social difficulties, ensuring they are able to access and engage with the curriculum.
- Use a range of teaching strategies to motivate and inspire students, fostering a love for English literature and language.
- Assess and track student progress, setting challenging but achievable targets.
- Work collaboratively with other staff members, including teaching assistants, SEN specialists, and pastoral staff to provide a holistic approach to student development.
- Maintain a positive, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
- Implement individual learning plans (ILPs) and support the personalized learning journey of each student.
- Participate in the wider school community, contributing to extracurricular activities and school initiatives.
- Liaise with parents/carers, external agencies, and stakeholders to support the progress and well-being of students.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Experience teaching English at KS3 and KS4 level.






- Proven ability to work effectively with students who have special educational needs (SEN), including social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges.
- Strong classroom management skills, with experience of working in a challenging environment.
- A genuine commitment to inclusive education and a desire to support all students to achieve their full potential.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

- Experience working in alternative provision, pupil referral units (PRUs), or similar settings.
- Knowledge of restorative approaches and trauma-informed teaching practices.
- Experience in implementing behavior management strategies.
